Of Calvinists and Ape-men!

I have always been struck by the coincidence of the name of a famous hymn writer and the name given to our prehistoric relatives, the Neanderthals.But I have recently discovered it was no coincidence.Joachim Neander, who lived in the C17th, wrote ‘All my hope on God is founded’ and ‘Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation’ and the valley, which gave its name to the Neanderthals was actually named after him because it was his favourite spot.
