Stag Beetles and banks

The highlight of the day so far was finally getting round to meeting up with the rangers in Wimbledon Common to pick up logs for the churchyard. There are now fairly primitive trunk slices in the garden for sitting and a log pile to provide a home for our local invertebrates. We have some Stag Beetles in our own garden and it would be great to have some of these marvellous creatures, whose size and structure makes them seem more appropriate for a rain-forest, thriving close to St Barnabas. www.wildlondon.org has some great info and pictures.

Much of the day so far has been taken up with delivering books for school leavers to Riversdale school, trying to sort out the church’s bank accounts ad hanging on the phone, waiting to speak to EDF about the Hall electricity bill. Plus lo0king after Southfields as they prepare the church for their play this week and signing a passport photograph.
