The church is much more than a building

The above is often said and it is unquestionably true, but it does not change the fact that most churches do have a building to maintain. Looking up at the roof of St Barnabas it would be easy to imagine that internal decoration should be our priority, but there are much more pressing matters. There are a few places where water is still getting in from at high level and our wiring and lighting system are so antique that they have got to be replaced as soon as possible. The members of the Building and Fabric Committee is working closely with our professional advisers and the diocese to put together plans for completing the necessary works so that we can move on to tackle the lesser but aesthetically no less important matters. To complete everything we will need to institute more fund raising strategies. One we are looking at is setting up a Friends of St Barnabas group!
